THE WIND STRUCK ME

Let those with no words for tomorrow
Stay silent today!
Let no word be stained.
One whose heart and word are not as one
Can never be pure, nor whole.

And can never know of love,
or of falling in love.
If no eyes gaze upon the sun,
No heart will know how to love.

If one does not know how to walk in the rain,
How could one withstand the hail?
One who walks the path alone
Can never share a heart’s true bond.

Those untouched by love’s sweet light
Can never learn to love.
The unripe soul cannot learn
To wipe away another’s tears.

I leave you be—
My pen wished to capture you.
My fingers couldn’t hold the pen,
Tears spilled, the paper ruined—
I couldn’t write you, nor myself.
We never were truly us.

My heart stayed with you,
My eyes hung on green.
Sleep never came—
Did you have no word at all?
You struck my heart like wind’s blow,
I rose up like a cloud of dust.
You left behind a wounded heart—
Let rain, not tears, flow down my cheeks.
