TWO CRİMSON CARNATİONS

Ali Baba Karakaş – 03 Ocak 2026

They've dimmed the sun, child
Tainted the innocent gaze
Don’t dim the stars, you cowards—
Their only crime was to love humanity

They called the mountains home of the free
Saw women and men as equals
Their skin carried the scent of thyme in spring,
Their fiery hearts rose tall toward the sun

Stars of the night, sun of the dawn—
The cowards set a treacherous trap
Bullets were vile, bullets were cruel
Each became a crimson carnation and fell to the earth

Spring arrives even before the break of dawn,
And saplings begin to sprout.
In every heart, heroes grow tall like fields of wheat.
On barricades, in resistance, they are remembered
Salute to those who fell fighting
